We have recently informed our readers about special smartphones being built to run on the mobile version of Ubuntu, read more in our Ubuntu for Mobile Devices Set to Launch in 2014 article. But now there’s more talk on the issue from Mark Shuttleworth, CEO and founder of Canonical. 2w4o67
According to the exec, the brand new mobile casino tamers will be specifically designed for the mobile Ubuntu OS and are expected to hit the stores even earlier than originally suggested: in October this year.
Mark Shuttleworth stipulated that the mobile casino games devices will definitely be available in several “large geographic markets”, whatever that means anyway. He went on to add that “North America is absolutely a key market for Ubuntu”, well at least we have that for now.
The CEO also assured mobile casino gambling fans, that Ubuntu mobile OS has already received decent attention from various major wireless carriers, meaning the brand new OS will already be backed by the industry upon its launch. Although he conveniently failed to mention which carriers he was speaking about, we’re still too far away from the release of the OS and smartphones.
Another highly-interested industry group – applications developers – will gain direct access to the Linux-based OS as early as the end of February. Canonical promised to introduce a dedicated Ubuntu ROM for the Galaxy Nexus.
